Together for Short Lives, the UK charity for children’s palliative care, supports and empowers families looking after seriously ill children and is helping to build a strong and sustainable palliative care sector. A new, fully responsive website is allowing them to provide that support more freely through online tools and resources, as well as to better communicate the work that they do.
Together for Short Lives exists to make a difference for children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions and their families. Acting as a voice on behalf of those affected, it strives to impact real, lasting change through campaigning, fundraising and influencing policy, with the ultimate goal to put the children and their families at the heart of everything it does.
We were commissioned to build a new website that would meet the charity’s vital objectives to provide a supportive space for families and professionals, as well as to drive an increase in donations and fundraising revenue. To fulfil these requirements, we developed the website with stakeholder involvement, starting with an online survey and card-sorting exercise, activities that greatly informed the final website structure and user journeys.
The finished result is a website that guides families to the Get Support section where they can find helpful information and resources, showcases the impact Together for Short Lives has made in the Changing Lives section, and encourages users to donate through powerful calls to action on every page. And as with all of the websites that we build, it offers a responsive and impactful experience for those using mobiles and tablets.

Tim Young Digital Communications Manager Together for Short LivesWorking with the team at Design Culture was a pleasure. They were thoughtful and collaborative, took the time to really understand us as a charity and our objectives, and were always patient with our feedback. We are delighted with the result and the difference it is already making.
